Articles are the primary content unit in Joomla. Every article has an introtext shown in blog and list layouts and an optional fulltext shown only in single-article view after the Read More break. The built-in TinyMCE editor provides rich formatting, media embedding, page breaks, and version history out of the box.

Creating an Article

Go to Admin → Content → Articles → New. Every article requires a Title and a Category.

Versioning

Joomla saves a version on every save. Click Versions in the toolbar to compare or restore any previous version. Retention limit is set in Global Configuration → Content → Maximum Versions.

Publishing Options

  • Start / Finish Publishing — schedule articles to go live and expire automatically
  • Featured — surfaces the article in the Featured Articles layout
  • Access Level — restrict to Public, Registered, Special, or custom levels
  • Language — assign to a specific language for multilingual sites

Metadata & SEO

  • Meta Description — 150–160 characters, shown in search results
  • Canonical URL — set for duplicate content
  • Robots — per-article override of global index/follow settings
